Tanabe Co., Ltd. Softball Team

The Tanabe Co., Ltd. Softball Team is a member of the Itoigawa City Baseball Federation.

Some members have played high school baseball, while others started playing after joining the company because they wanted to expand their social circle through the sport. As a baseball team, we have 26 players (ranging in age from 18 to 58, with the oldest active player being 58 and the youngest 18) and 2 staff members, making a total of 28 members who enjoy playing together in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere.

The Itoigawa City Baseball Federation hosts three tournaments each year: the Itoigawa Baseball Federation Cup (spring), the Tanabe Co., Ltd. Cup (summer), and the Itoigawa Mayor’s Cup (fall). The “Tanabe Cup,” which our company sponsors, began in Showa 52 and has since worked to promote baseball among local corporate and club teams. Approximately 30 teams participate each year, making it a grand event that has become firmly established as an opportunity for young and middle-aged residents deeply rooted in the community to interact with one another.

The Tanabe Baseball Club was previously a member of the All-Japan Softball Baseball Federation and performed well, including competing in the Niigata Prefectural Tournament as the representative of the Joetsu region; however, in recent years, amid a generational transition, the team had fallen short of victory. However, in recent years, many young employees with high school baseball experience have joined the company, building a team strong enough to once again compete in the All-Japan Softball Baseball Federation. Currently, the team is aiming to win the city tournament and rejoin the All-Japan Softball Baseball Federation.

We warmly welcome anyone who wants to join Tanabe Co., Ltd. and play baseball—or who’s interested in giving it a try—to join our team. Also, if any teams would like to play against the Tanabe Baseball Club, please feel free to contact us to arrange a practice game. A “cold one” after a hard-fought game is always a nice way to wrap things up.
