Let's Take on the Challenge of New Manufacturing!

I currently have two main responsibilities. The first is performing detailed mechanical design using AutoCAD. This work allows me to apply the fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge I learned in college—such as strength calculations—and I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I see the finished machine. The other task involves conducting in-house testing. Based on customer requirements, we perform preliminary tests using our company’s testing equipment and incorporate the results into the design of the actual machine. Operating the testing equipment myself helps me gain an even deeper understanding of how it works.

Unlike typical manufacturers, our company does not mass-produce products; rather, we are a custom manufacturer that produces on a made-to-order basis. I find it appealing that we design machinery to meet our customers’ needs and are constantly taking on new challenges. Additionally, since we have our own factory on-site, I consider it a major advantage that we can always go and see parts being manufactured or machines being assembled. Furthermore, with the number of overseas projects in Asia and Europe increasing in recent years and our company expanding its presence abroad, the opportunity to go on business trips overseas is another appealing aspect of working here.

I am originally from Heilongjiang Province, China, and came to Japan when I was in my third year of junior high school. I graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chubu University’s Faculty of Engineering, and that brings me to where I am today. I’ve loved “making things” since I was a child, so I focused my job search on machinery manufacturers. That’s when I learned about Tanabe Co., Ltd. I was intrigued by the company’s integrated approach—handling everything from design to parts machining, assembly, installation, and commissioning—so I attended an information session. When I heard that Tanabe manufactures “environmentally friendly” machinery—such as energy-saving equipment, systems that utilize waste heat, and resources for recycling—I felt this would be a very rewarding job, so I decided to join Tanabe Co., Ltd.

There are about 40 employees in the Engineering Department, and from my desk, I can see the faces of all my team members. This makes for an environment where communication is very easy, and since I can immediately consult with my supervisor or senior colleagues whenever I encounter a problem or have a question, I find it to be a very comfortable place to work.

I know the job hunt can be tough and there are many things to worry about, but it’s important to decide early on what kind of work you want to do.
